By popular demand, Ottawa Marathi Mandal in association with ICMA Foundation is planning to screen the movie musical Katyar Kaljat Ghusli in Ottawa!

This is the first time a Marathi movie is being screened in Ottawa. We are offering reserved seating to ensure that this event will be financially viable. Based on your response, Ottawa Marathi Mandal will decide if we can go ahead with the screening. We hope you will support this event wholeheartedly! 

We look forward to seeing you on 13 December, 2015 for the first screening of a marathi movie in Ottawa, and that too a masterpiece like Katyar Kaljat Ghusli!

Please note that the movie Katyar Kaljat Ghusli has English subtitles and 60% of the movie is in Hindi/Urdu.

Movie Synopsis: 
This movie is based on a play by the same name that premiered in 1967. The story revolves around the battle between two music schools – those of Pandit Shastri and Khan Saheb, in the kingdom of Vishrampur. Recognizing Khan’s extraordinary talent, Shastri brings him to the royal court. However, losing the singing competition to Shastri for 14 years in a row makes Khan jealous and egoistic. One day, Khan defeats Shastri by picking up Shastri’s own song and singing it in a different style. The musical rivalry develops and becomes a battle of egos, which is finally broken by Shastri’s disciple Sadashiv - what follows is the essence of Indian philosophy of music.
